Developing the Circadian Rhythm . By eight weeks of age, your child’s internal clock or “circadian rhythm”, begins to develop, and day/night confusion begins to fade away. Light is the biggest opportunity to cue our circadian rhythm. You can help your child by putting them next to the window first thing in the morning and getting them outdoors during the day. In the evenings, dim the lights, close the blinds, and turn off any unnecessary lights in the house an hour or so before bedtime, to help the body make melatonin.
