Meet Our Customers: JP Montgomery

Jared, or more formally known as Jared-Paul Steven Montgomery, is a self proclaimed "gamer geek" and technology enthusiast. He lives with his American Eskimo, who, Jared admits, has become a huge part of his life. We interviewed Jared about his lifestyle and how Umizato has impacted his daily habits: 

1. So Jared, what do you do for a living?

I am a calligrapher by trade.

 

2. What are some of your favorite hobbies and interests?

My favorite hobbies include gaming, classical music, learning new software, tinkering with hardware, and creating new fonts.

 

3. And how often, on average, do you find yourself staring at some sort of screen? This could be anything - your phone, PC, or laptop.

I spend almost all of my waking hours at a monitor or on my Android devices.

 

4. How did you hear about Umizato and why did you decide on purchasing our product?

I was researching blue light filtering glasses and noticed Umizato while perusing Amazon. Umizato caught my attention right away and I went directly to your website. I picked your company based on style, the percentage of blue light blocked, and the minimal amber hue that I find to be very aesthetically pleasing

.

5. Which pair of Umizato glasses do you own? Why did that pair stand out to you? 

I own the Pictor and absolutely adore them. It had a very classic 1950's-esque design mixed with modern framework.

 

6. What are the most important features you look for a pair of blue light filtering glasses?

What is important to me is comfort, style, and 90% blue light filtration. The Pictor glasses fulfilled all of these.

 

7. How has your daily changed after wearing Umizato anti-blue light glasses?

Generally speaking I get about 2-3 hours of sleep due to insomnia. Since wearing these I have been getting at least double the aforementioned hours.

 

8. You mentioned earlier that you spend most of your time gaming. How’d you first get started on gaming?

I first started gaming when I was 5 years of age on NES and MS-DOS. I started playing competitively in my teens and early 20's.

 

9. Name your top 5 favorite games of all time that you have played!

Top 5 games for me would be Warcraft 3, World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy XIV, and Heroes of the Storm.

 

10. What’s the craziest thing you have done in the past?

Craziest thing I have ever done? I worked in a forensics crime laboratory for 10 years. Stories not suitable for the faint of heart. That and I am not at liberty to discuss.

 

11. Who are your biggest heroes?

Fictional personal hero would be hands down, Captain Kathryn Janeway (Strong female role model, intelligent,  strong code of ethics/morals, and compassionate yet firm leadership skills). Non-fiction personal hero would be Dr. Terri Haddix, a Forensic Pathologist (no ego, driven, wicked sense of humor, and one of the most terrifyingly brilliant individuals I've ever crossed paths with).
